Don House works with traditional film and darkroom techniques and each print is hand-made to archival standards.

I am first and foremost a black & white portrait photographer, and it shows.  Even the landscapes, figure studies and abstracts that fill the catalogue of images from 20 years of work reveal the same effort, the same approach – an insistence on capturing the character, the essence, the life of the thing, the person, the place.

I approach all subjects as I would a portrait, really, watching, waiting, for the essence; striving to capture the character and personality and spirituality of a landscape, or a person, or a thing.
