Colored Pencil, Graphite, and Oils
Sheila Cantrel is an award-winning Arkansa artist and a member of The International Guild of Realism and The Colored Pencil Society of America. Sheila's graphite and colored pencil drawings have appeared in many national and international juried exhibitions and won numerous awards.
I first started out as a pencil artist - first with graphite and then colored pencil. I am primarily a self-taught artist. I've had a lot of help along the way, most notably in the person of Tarrence Corbin, an inspiring teacher and accomplished abstract painter. I had the good fortune of being befriended and mentored by Mr. Corbin when I first began drawing. I have continued, finding my way by doing, reading, and studying the works of realist artists whom I greatly admire.
