Schedule of Events for May, 2010

For the 2010 May Festival of the Arts, Eureka Fine Art will host a number of receptions honoring an array of the region’s most outstanding artists.

Each of the events will be from 6:00-9:00 p.m. In addition to their evening appearances, some artists will also be present during the afternoon. For more information, call the gallery at 479-253-6595.

SATURDAY, MAY 1:

Larry Mansker — Brilliant, varied work, including large-scale landscapes
James Yale — Masterful mythical realism
Carol Dickie — Colorful landscapes in mixed water media

SATURDAY, MAY 8:

Josh Mitchell — Fine art photography at its creative best
Jimmy Leach — Widely collected impressionist landscapes
David Rush — Finely crafted artisan jewelry to wear and to display
Chuck Blouin — Impressionist landscapes & scenes inspired by the artist’s New Orleans heritage

SATURDAY, MAY 15:

Denise Ryan — Vibrant, breathtaking magical realism
Julie Kahn Valentine — Unique watercolors, as well as delightful Eureka scenes
Ernest Kilman — Ozark riverscapes from one of Eureka’s master artists

SATURDAY, MAY 22:

Lisa Bauer — Beautiful, realistic acrylics and oils
Candace Kenyon — Delightful fabric collage
Sheyodi — Decorative and functional ceramics

SATURDAY, MAY 29:

Diana Harvey — Award-winning still-lifes and miniatures
Bob Harvey — Brilliant, one-of-a-kind abstracts

Valentine at Christmas Time!

Renowned Eureka Springs artist Julie Kahn Valentine will appear at Eureka Fine Art on Saturday, December 12, from 1:00-4:00 and from 6:00-9:00. During the afternoon, Valentine will be on hand to discuss and sell her work, including her bright, whimsical acrylics, prints and originals of her watercolor Eureka scenes, and her brand new series of Christmas cards. Diana Harvey Paintings in International Show

Award-winning artist Diana Harvey, of Eureka Springs, has had three paintings accepted for inclusion in the 35th Annual International Miniature Show. The show, sponsored by the Miniature Art Society of Florida, will be held at the Leeper-Rattner Museum, Tarpon Springs, in the Tampa, Florida area.

November Gallery Stroll to Feature Lisa Bauer and Josh Mitchell

On Saturday, November 14, 2009, Eureka Fine Art will host award-winning artist Lisa Bauer and renowned photographer Josh Mitchell. Both artists will be in the gallery from 1:00-4:00 p.m., and again in the evening from 6:00-9:00 for a special reception. Wine and refreshments will be served during the evening portion of the event, and music will be provided by Chuck Onofrio.

Fine Art Photographer Josh Mitchell Event, Saturday, October 10!

On Saturday, October 10, Eureka Fine Art will proudly host renowned fine art photographer Josh Mitchell. Come see Josh’s vibrant, spectacular photography! This is an opportunity to meet and talk with Josh about not only his signature work for which he is already well known, but also his newest work, featuring Colorado and the Ozark mountains. During this event, you will also be able to take home a complimentary copy of Josh’s new promotional DVD!

Josh will be present in the gallery from 1:00-4:00, and again from 6:00-9:00. The evening portion of the event will be a Wine and Cheese Reception. Music for the occasion will be provided by Chuck Onofrio. Come join the fun!

Karrie Evenson at Eureka Fine Art, Saturday, July 11!

On Saturday, July 11, artist Karrie Evenson, who is featured in the twice-weekly television program, “Karrie on Canvas,” will be making two appearances at Eureka Fine Art.

From 1:00 to 5:00, she will be on the deck demonstrating her painting technique and meeting the public. Then, from 6:00-9:00, she will be on hand for this month’s Gallery Stroll.

Music for the evening will be provided by Chuck Onofrio, and wine and cheese will be served.

Denise Ryan’s “Lemon Sun”

A spectacular new 48″x48″ painting by Denise Ryan, entitled “Lemon Sun” will be available for viewing and purchasing beginning May 22nd. This piece was created especially for the Arkansas Symphony Designer House in Little Rock, and hung over a massive stone fireplace during that month-long fund-raising installation.

An additional new canvas will also be in the gallery by the weekend of May 23rd, an as-yet-untitled still life which features a rose breasted grosbeak and measures 24″x36″.

Ryan will be participating in the Wine and Cheese reception on May 23rd in the gallery, along with fellow artists Larry Mansker, Randy Rust, Carol Dickie, and Barbara Robinson.

Diana Harvey’s Miniatures Gaining National Attention

Diana Harvey, already well-known for her award winning still-life paintings, is gaining recognition for her recent venture into the genre of miniature paintings. Diana was invited to show one of her miniatures, "Harmony in Greens," in the Masterworks 2009 exhibit at Gallery One in Cleveland, Ohio. This exhibit, to be held in March,  is an annual national invitational show devoted to small paintings.

Josh Mitchell to Host Springfield Photography Exhibit

Eureka Fine Art’s fine art photographer Josh Mitchell, in conjunction with Pickwick Framing, 1427 E. Cherry St. in Springfield, will host a mixed photographic show exploring the "visual alchemy" of photography. This exhibit, called "Where the Wild Things Are," will include works by Mark Harmel of Los Angeles, Christian Michaels of San Diego, Catharine Cooper of Laguna Beach, Eliot Crowley of Santa Barbara, as well as works by Springfield-based photographers Tom Davis, Dan Frisch, J. Hayes, Cait Brady, and  Mitchell himself. The exhibit will open at Pickwick Framing during the First Friday Art Walk on February 6, from 6-10 p.m., and will continue throughout February and March before becoming a travelling exhibit.

Diana Harvey Wins Awards at Regional, Statewide Shows

One of Eureka Springs’ premier artists, Diana Harvey,  won three awards in two different shows this past Fall.

In a statewide competition held at the Hot Springs Arts Center in October, Diana’s "Afternoon Delight" took second place, while her "Strawberries and Cream" garnered an honorable mention.

In a show of Northwest Arkansas artists during  November and December at the Arts Center of the Ozarks, Diana’s "Farmhouse Lace" was the winner of the President’s Award.
